US-led coalition forces said they accomplished a series of 16 airstrikes on Saturday on Islamic State militants in the Syrian city of Raqa.
Coalition forces "successfully engaged multiple targets" throughout Raqa — the extremists' de facto capital —destroying IS structures and transit routes.
The strikes "have severely constricted the terrorists’ freedom of movement," spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Gilleran said in a coalition statement, media reported.
This was one of the largest deliberate engagements conducted by the US-led coalition in Syria to date.
