MOSCOW (Sputnik) — David Sweat, one of two escaped murderers from an upstate New York maximum-security prison, was sent to a correctional facility after nearly a month at large, the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) said in a press release.
The other prison escapee Richard Matt was killed by police on June 26 in a remote area of the Malone town in Franklin County, the United States.
"The Department of Corrections and Community Supervision today announced that David Sweat was released from Albany Medical Center at 3:05 AM and is now incarcerated at the maximum-security Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus, New York (Seneca County)," the press release issued Sunday said.
Sweat, 34, was apprehended on June 28, after he was spotted along a roadway in the New York Town of Constable, which is located ten miles from the Canadian border. Sweat was shot twice as he attempted to flee from police.
The correctional facility, he was sent to after the hospital, was opened in 2000 and currently houses 1,294 inmates, according to the DOCCS data.
