The document, inked by Lt. Gen. Frederick “Ben” Hodges, commander of US Army Europe, and Lithuanian Ground Forces Commander, Maj. General Almantas Leika, outlines a preliminary timetable of joint exercises in Lithuania and Eastern Europe to “demonstrate mutual commitment to strengthening collective security and ensuring better interoperability under US and NATO command.”
The 2015-2017 joint exercises will be held in support of the US-led Operation Atlantic Resolve — an ongoing series of maritime and land-based drills to enhance and support NATO allies and partners as a response to what the West considers Russian aggression in Ukraine.
