PARIS (Sputnik) — The Eurogroup meeting was held in Brussels earlier in the day to discuss the Greece's debt and ways to settle the country's debt crisis. The Eurozone emergency summit on the Greek issue also began in Brussels.
The extraordinary sessions followed a Greek referendum on austerity measures demanded by the country’s major international creditors — the European Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund and some Eurozone nations.
"There is a certain urgency, so the decisions must be made within a week," Hollande told journalists in Brussels.
Greece had refused to accept the deeply unpopular terms offered by its lenders on a new bailout program before the previous aid package expired on June 30, triggering speculation that the state might leave the Eurozone.
