MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The deadline for reaching the final agreement was initially set for July 30, later the talks were prolonged until July 7, and, according to diplomatic sources, the negotiations could last up until July 13.
“It is not a matter of reaching at least some agreement, but of reaching agreements that will simultaneously put an end to the years of conflict with Iran and not threaten, but strengthen security in the Middle East,” Steinmeier told in an interview with the German ARD TV channel, adding that the security should be strengthened “including for Israel.”
Iran and the P5+1 group of negotiators, comprising Russia, the United States, China, France, the United Kingdom and Germany, are trying to secure a comprehensive deal ensuring the peaceful nature of Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for lifting of sanctions against Iran.
The deal is opposed by Gulf Arab states and Israel, who has repeatedly stated that concessions offered to Tehran by the P5+1 endanger the Middle East.
