Tehran wants the announcement of a final agreement with the P5+1 group of international mediators to be made in the presence of all foreign ministers, including Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, a senior Iranian diplomat told Sputnik.

VIENNA (Sputnik) — The West has been suspecting Iran of developing nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian program, while Tehran has repeatedly insisted that it is just trying to meet the country’s growing energy needs.

"For us it will be appropriate if Mr. Lavrov will be here for a deal. And I think for him it is important to be here when the deal is done, if it is done."

P5+1, Iran May Reach Nuclear Deal by Thursday Evening

The P5+1 group of negotiators, comprising Russia, the United States, China, France, the United Kingdom and Germany, are trying to secure a comprehensive deal with Iran ensuring the peaceful nature of Tehran's nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of Western sanctions against Iran.

Negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 group have recently been prolonged beyond the original deadline for reaching a final agreement, which was set for June 30.

In April, Tehran and the P5+1 reached a preliminary deal in the Swiss city of Lausanne. The Lausanne framework agreement stipulates that Iran cut back its uranium enrichment activities and decrease the number of centrifuges in exchange for sanctions relief.

The Lausanne deal was presented without the presence of the Russian foreign minister.
