WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – In July 1995, units of the Army of Republika Srpska under the command of general Ratko Mladic killed up to 8,000 Bosnian Muslims, mainly men and boys, in and around the town of Srebrenica.
“Those who perpetrated that massacre must be brought to justice.”
On Wednesday, the White House announced that former US President Bill Clinton will head the US delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina to attend a commemoration for the killed Muslims in Srebrenica.
“We must remember Srebrenica’s victims and all the victims of the war — not just today but every day.”
The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the International Court of Justice has classified the massacre in Srebrenica as genocide.
Serbia and Bosnian Serbs do not deny the killings, but dispute the nature of the incident and the charge of genocide.
