UFA (Sputnik) – Kiev has not recalled its request to acquire a dialogue partner status within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), an SCO source told RIA Novosti on Friday.
Ukraine submitted the request in 2013 and, according to the source, there "are no changes" in its status.
"The request was confirmed in word in 2014 and has not been recalled by the Ukrainian side," the source said.
The SCO is a political, economic and military alliance that includes Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The position of a dialogue partner envisages a state or an organization that shares the common values and goals of the SCO and expresses willingness to cooperate with member states on equal terms for mutual benefit and stability.
The Russian city of Ufa is hosting an annual SCO summit this year, which will conclude later in the day.
