The Colima Volcano has erupted in western Mexico, starting to spew ash about 6.4 kilometers (four miles) into the air and send lava down its slopes, media reports said.
The volcano, also known as the Fire Volcano, began erupting early on Thursday, and continued to spew ash on Friday morning.
According to Colima State's civil protection agency, the volcano's initial eruption took place after 11 a.m. on Thursday, with ash reportedly falling to the crater's southwestern area. Friday saw a reconnaissance flyover by a Colima State helicopter, officials said.

Meanwhile, the eruption of a volcano on Indonesia's main island of Java has sparked travel chaos for holidaymakers, who were on their way to the tourist hotspot Bali.
On Friday, Mount Raung, located just about 150 kilometers (95 miles) from Bali's international airport, started spewing ash nearly 3,800 meters (12,460 feet) into the air.
