MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Policemen, who opened fire on members of Ukraine's Right Sector far-right movement in the west of the country must be detained, the leader of the organization Dmytro Yarosh said Saturday.
"The bandits and those police officers who gave the order to open fire must be immediately detained," Yarosh said in a statement on his Facebook page.
According to Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, four civilians and three police officers were injured as a result of the shootout.
Alexander Sachko, the head of the Right Sector in the western Zakarpattia region, confirmed the involvement of the organization to the shooting in Mukacheve, and stated the local police opened fire on its members without warning.
The Right Sector actively participated in clashes with Ukrainian riot police, that ended in the February 2014 coup.
