Police say The Tuscaloosa Police Department was notified on Friday that a man wanted on an “attempting to elude” warrant was sitting outside a home with a gun. When police arrived at the location, the suspect ran into the woods. After police caught up to him, police say the man started resisting arrest.
Police said the man was pepper sprayed as he “continued to fight with officers” until he was handcuffed. As he was walked out of the woods, the man collapsed. Police attempted CPR.
The man was then transported to a nearby hospital where he died.
A cause of death has not been released. The case is being investigated by the Tuscaloosa County Homicide Unit.
