BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — In a July 5 referendum, over 61 percent of Greek voters rejected the unpopular austerity measures demanded by Athens' major international creditors in exchange for further financial assistance. On Thursday, Greece presented its economic proposals to secure a third bailout package from its international creditors.
"At the moment, the beginning of the Euro Summit is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. local time (13:00 GMT), and the EU summit for 6:00 p.m. (15:00 GMT). I see no reason for it to change," the source told RIA Novosti.
Greece is struggling with a deep economic crisis and is unable to repay its estimated $270 billion debt to its international creditors, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Central Bank and eurozone nations.
A 19-member eurozone summit and a 28-member EU summit on Greece's debt issue will take place on Sunday in Brussels.
