At Saturday's Eurogroup session, the finance ministers failed to reach a decision on whether to accept Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' loan request, which was presented on Thursday; Athens needs a third bailout package in order for Greece to remain solvent.
"Credit institutions positively greeted [Greece's] proposal at the Eurogroup session, made some comments and approved the deadline. While there was a general agreement on the whole, a group of countries constantly raised the issue of 'trust', not specifying what should be done," the source told the Athens News Agency.
The source added that it was clear that some countries did not want to provide Greece with additional financial assistance for reasons unrelated to the reforms program presented by Athens on July 9.
However, the source did not disclose which countries were against the agreement.
A 28-member EU summit on Greece’s debt issue and whether to accept Tsipras’ proposal to the international creditors is to be held later in the day.
