BRUSSELS (Sputnik) – The eurozone finance ministers estimate that a new bailout program for Greece could reach 86 billion euros ($96 billion), the Eurogroup said Sunday in a draft document, accessed by RIA Novosti.
“The Eurogroup takes note of the possible [Greek third bailout] programme financing needs of between EUR 82 and 86bn," the document reads, adding that Greece will need to receive the first tranche of 7 billion euro ($7,8 billion) by July 20 and additional 5 billion euro ($5,6 billion) by mid-August.
Earlier in the day, eurozone finance ministers met in Brussels to discuss the opportunity of another bailout program for Athens.
Greece is struggling with a deep economic crisis and is unable to repay its debts, including $270 billion it owes to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Central Bank and eurozone nations.
On Saturday, the Wall Street Journal reported citing EU sources that Greece will need 74 billion euro ($82.55 billion) in funding within the new aid package.
