Leader of France’s National Front Marine Le Pen said Monday that if she were Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, she would have led Greece out of the Eurozone, the French edition of the Huffington Post reported.

PARIS (Sputnik) — Le Pen added that the euro has become some “holy” currency that “does not work.”

“Yes, that is exactly what I would have done,” Le Pen said at a press conference in Paris, answering a question on whether she would have initiated the so-called Grexit if she were the Greek prime minister.

“Greece is no longer free. The Greek people were deprived of their liberty," Le Pen said.

Greece is struggling to repay its debts, including $270 billion which it owes to its main creditors — the European Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund and some Eurozone countries.

On July 5, Greek voters rejected in a nationwide referendum a lender-proposed bailout plan, sparking speculation about the country’s potential exit from the Eurozone.

On July 9, the Greek government submitted a revised debt settlement plan to its creditors.

On Monday morning, following 17 hours of talks, Eurozone leaders reached an agreement on a new bailout plan, deciding that Greece should remain in the currency bloc.
