SCO Discuss Afghan Security as Tensions in Middle East Grow
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Ghani named the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as a model for cooperation between major powers, which he found much more productive than rivalry.

Afghanistan is an observer state within the SCO on the same basis as Belarus, Iran and Mongolia. India and Pakistan, currently holding observer status, are undertaking activities to join Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as full members of the organization.

“I have worked in Russia in the 1990s and the country was ignored by its counterparts. Now the West pays for its historic mistake for not taking into account interests and wishes of Russian people,” he said in an interview with RT.
