WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States and Ukraine will sign an Open Skies agreement tomorrow to expand commercial and cargo flights between the countries, the State Department announced on Monday.
“Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Catherine Novelli will join Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Andriy Pyvovarsky in signing an Open Skies agreement [on Tuesday],” the State Department said.
The United States has signed Open Sky agreements with 115 countries.
The agreement cuts out the role of governments in determining commercial and cargo airline decision on routes, pricing and capacity.
The agreement is meant to provide more affordable, flexible and efficient air service, the State Department concluded.
