MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Thick plumes of smoke are coming from a LyondellBasell facility in the town of Berre, around six miles from the Marseilles Provence Airport, France Bleu Provence radio said, adding there were no reports of wounded.
Two tanks containing gasoline and naphtha went off at 3 a.m. local time (01:00 GMT). Le Parisien newspaper cited a source close to the investigation saying that the tanks were about 1.6 feet apart when they exploded.
The radio cited a military official, Col. Gregory Allione, who said the explosion caused atmospheric pollution, but there was no chemical threat to people living within the distance of 1 mile from the site.
