The ‘Dawning 7000′ has been designed by the Chinese tech company ‘Dawning Information Industry’ to meet market demands for high-speed communication networks, large-scale storing and application software, Li Jun, President, Dawning Information Industry said, media reports.
Earlier reports said the supercomputer had entered the phase of trial production and assembling and would be launched in two years. Li Hun, however, denied such speculations.
Backed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dawning is also the developer of Nebulae or Dawning 6000, which is classified as the second in the TOP 500 list of the world's most powerful supercomputers in 2010 for its measured Linpack value of 1.271 petaflop times a second.
