Tokyo Electric Power Co. Must Update Emergency Manual After Fukushima
Tokyo Electric Power Co. has been told by international nuclear inspectors to update its emergency manual in light with the new safety measures imposed after the nuclear crisis at the Fukushima plant following a tsunami.
The announcement came after a team from the International Atomic Energy Agency completed two weeks of inspections of TEPCO’s Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear plant.
TEPCO was nationalized following the Fukushima meltdowns; it now faces massive costs for compensation and decontamination work. Its business has also suffered majorly due to higher imported fuel costs in the absence of nuclear power.
