Iran and the P5+1 group (China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Russia and the United States) came to a historic agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program after years of negotiations.
At a press conference held at the international news agency Rossiya Segodnya, Pushkov said:
"The deal practically eliminates the possibility of a military scenario in the Middle East… Prevention of a military scenario in relation to Iran – is a very critical point.”
He added that the treaty guarantees the peaceful nature of Tehran’s nuclear program and as a consequence leaves the states of the region that intend to possess nuclear weapons without any arguments to support an aggressive militaristic stance.
The new agreement will limit Iranian nuclear activities in exchange for a gradual lifting of economic sanctions imposed on the country by the UN Security Council.
