MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian aviation authorities are concerned over the ban of commercial flights over Crimea, though threats are ignored in regard to flights over eastern Ukraine, the deputy head of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency said Thursday.
“The aviation authorities of the Russian Federation are disturbed by the issue of why the [International Civil Aviation Organization] and the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation in April of 2014 immediately reacted with a ban on flights in the Simferopol region after the Republic of Crimea rejoined the Russian Federation over safety issues, but ignored the situation in eastern Ukraine,” Oleg Storchevoi said.
