An estimated 200 protesters gathered in front of the Verhovna Rada in the city downtown demanding a refinancing of hard currency loans, postponement of electronic VAT handling and against the radical party’s flamboyant leader Oleh Lyashko, the Kiev-based Vesti newspaper reported.
“Lyashko came to power to get rich!”
“There is no place for clowns in parliament!” shouted the opponents of the ill-famed ultranationalist lawmaker.
Police and National Guardsmen maintained a heavy presence blocking entry to the parliament building.
