WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — “After a historic Supreme Court session that included rulings on same-sex marriage and the Affordable Care Act, Democrats' approval of the high court has surged to 76% and Republicans' approval has plummeted to a record-low 18%,” the poll read.
Meanwhile, Gallup found the United States overall is divided in opinions of the US Supreme Court — 49 percent of Americans say they approve the country’s high court, 46 percent expressed their disapproval.
Democrats’ approval for the court has risen by 29 percent since September 2014, while Republicans’ approval has fallen by 17 percent since that time, according to the poll.
The results of the poll come after the US Supreme Court, in a historic ruling in June, said that the American Constitution gives same-sex couples the right to marry, and also upheld healthcare subsidies under US President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act healthcare law.
