WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Washington supports the work by international investigators on the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash in eastern Ukraine in 2014, US Secretary of State John Kerry said in a release.
“We support the work being done by the Joint Investigative Team and the Dutch Safety Board, for that reason, and we urge full cooperation by all in assisting their effort to uncover the full truth,” Kerry said on Thursday.
“A year later, we strongly reaffirm our commitment to a thorough and independent international investigation to identify the full facts of what happened that day and, most importantly, to see those responsible are held accountable,” Kerry stated.
Ukraine and the West blame militias for downing the airliner, while Donetsk self-defense forces insist they did not have weapons capable of bringing down a plane flying at 32,000 feet. An investigation by the Dutch Safety Board is ongoing, with the final report due in October.
