MOSCOW (Sputnik) – One of seven FIFA officials detained on suspicion of corruption was released on $10-million bond after pleading not guilty to charges, local media reported.
Jeffrey Webb, 50, entered a not guilty plea at the Brooklyn, New York federal court, which released him on $10 million bond following his arraignment, according to the New York Daily News.
Webb was the first FIFA executive extradited from Switzerland to the United States on Thursday.
He was among the seven FIFA officials arrested in Zurich in May on a US warrant of federal corruption charges in marketing and broadcasting deals over the last 24 years. A total of 14 people are suspected of $150-million graft, including fraud, racketeering and money laundering.
The court also barred Webb from associating with co-defendants or any other FIFA, Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) or South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) officials.
