MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, Argentine politician from the center-right Republican Proposal (PRO) party is leading in the Buenos Aires runoff mayoral elections, local media report, citing the latest polling.
With nearly all of the ballots counted late Sunday, Larreta is ahead of Martin Lousteau with over 51 percent of the votes, according to the Buenos Aires Herald.
Lousteau, lawmaker in the lower house of parliament and former economy minister running on the ECO coalition ballot, is trailing with slightly over 48 percent, according to the publication.
Larreta, head of the Buenos Aires municipal government, is the colleague and fellow party member of outgoing Buenos Aires Mayor Mauricio Macri, president of PRO.
Macri is one of six preliminary nominees in the Argentine presidential election scheduled for October 2015.
