Ukraine will ramp up the security of its “nuclear installations, nuclear materials, radioactive waste and other sources of ionizing radiation in the face of the changed security situation caused by the ‘Russian aggression,’” the NSDC’s press service said on Tuesday.
The Council considered urgent measures to better ensure coordination between the country’s security and defense agencies to prevent possible “acts of terrorism and sabotage by an aggressor state and its agents.”
In January, the Ukrainian parliament passed a resolution branding Russia as an aggressor state allegedly meddling in the country’s internal affairs on the side of pro-independence militia in Donbass.
Russia has consistently denied the charge and underscored its desire for an early end to the political and economic crisis in the neighboring country.
