The missile command of the Russian Eastern Military District received 9K720 Iskander ballistic missile systems at the Kapustin Yar military range, the Defense Ministry press office reported.
"At the Kapustin Yar range during an official ceremony, a unit of Iskander operative-and-tactic missiles was handed over to the personnel of the missile command of the Eastern Military District," the report read.
It added that it is the fifth command unit in the Russian Army and second in the Eastern Military District to fully switch to operate the newest missile system.
"The personnel received several dozen launchers as well as loading and command vehicles, life-support equipment, technical support hardware and a data preparation facility," according to the ministry.
The missile command crews began to practice operations with the Iskander system. The practical training will end in September with combat firing drills.
