MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Donetsk city court in Russia's Rostov region will on July 30 begin a trial in the case against Ukrainian citizen Nadezhda Savchenko who has been charged with killing two Russian journalists, court's press secretary Tatyana Dieva told RIA Novosti Tuesday.
"The date of the preliminary hearing on the criminal case against Savchenko is July 30," Dieva said.
Earlier, the defendant's lawyer said Savchenko was already transferred from the detention center in Moscow to Rostov region.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation previously stated that in the light of the new evidence collected, investigators reclassified the crimes Savchenko is suspected of committing. Savchenko will be accused not as an accomplice, but as a co-executor of the murders. Savchenko faces up to 25 years in prison.
Savchenko has rejected all the allegations.
