The Estonian Defense Ministry sent weaponry to Iraq last week, to support the country's government in its fight against the Islamic State militant group, local media reported Tuesday.

TALLINN (Sputnik) – Estonia reportedly provided the Iraqi government with 12 120-mm mortars, 140 RPD light machine guns, 66 China-made Type 56 assault rifles, 44 Romania-made automatic rifles, and 230 TT pistols with 21,000 cartridges.

“Estonian government responded to the Iraqi request for help. Estonia sent old armament and ammunition… that do not meet the NATO standards and are not used by the Estonian Defense Forces,” Baltic News Service reported, citing a source in Estonian Defense Ministry.

Estonian weapons and ammunition will be delivered to Iraq by the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
