MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The e-mail was reportedly sent on July 13 to all operators that used Nairobi airports. It specified the exact times when the airports Jomo Kenyatta and Wilson would be closed.
“This corresponds to the expected arrival and departure time for President Obama,” the e-mail reads.
Earlier this week, a travel agent in Johannesburg reportedly sent this e-mail to all of its customers.
In recent years, Kenya has been the scene of a number of attacks by al-Qaeda affiliated al-Shabaab extremists.
In early April, al-Shabaab militants broke into Garissa University College in northeastern Kenya, killing 148 people, mainly Christian students, and injuring over 100 others.
According to Fox News, al-Shabaab is believed to posses surface-to-air missiles.
