KIEV (Sputnik) — Previous chairman of Ukrnafta was Belgian national Peter Vanhecke whose powers were terminated before the end of his term because of his alleged ties with Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoyskyi.
Ukrainian government has long sought to change the head of the company by choosing an independent candidate, who would be elected in a transparent vote. The state owns 50 percent + 1 of the company’s shares, while some 42 percent belong to the financial-industrial group Privat, owned by Kolomoyskyi.
