“That the current freeze of various cooperation tracks is harming both sides is now obvious to all… Hence the ever-growing calls to turn this page and return to a normal life,” Chizhov said in an interview with Rossiya-24 Television.
Chizhov said the matter could come up in late January when the EU leaders meet to decide whether or not to end the economically and politically damaging sanctions regime.
“Much will depend on progress achieved in a political settlement of the conflict in Ukraine,” Vladimir Chizhov added.
The European Union, the United States and their allies have implemented a series of sanctions, targeting Russia’s defense, energy and banking sectors, over its alleged involvement in the situation in Ukraine.
Russia has repeatedly denied the claim, stressing that sanctions are “counterproductive” and hurt those, using the measure, in addition to the target country.
