TALLINN (Sputnik) – Parachute landings using two UH60 Black Hawk helicopters involving 80 US and 30 Estonian troops, due to take place at the Nurmsi airfield in Jarva County on Wednesday, have been postponed until Thursday due to weather conditions.
US soldiers joined their Estonian counterparts on July 18 as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
The operation, a series of US and NATO troop deployments and exercises dating to April 2014, seeks to "deter Russia from regional hegemony," according to a US European Command factsheet.
Russia maintains that NATO expansion into its western frontier is a threat to global and national security.
