MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, the Contact Group on Ukrainian reconciliation, comprising representatives of Kiev, the self-proclaimed people's republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, as well as Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), reached an agreement on the procedure and schedule for the withdrawal of heavy weaponry from the contact line in eastern Ukraine.
"The discussion of the implementation of the February 12 Minsk Agreements has been continued, following up on the Contact Group and its working subgroups meeting held on July 21," the statement read.
The Normandy quartet has held several rounds of talks on Ukrainian reconciliation, most notably in February when they signed the Minsk deal in Minsk, Belarus. The agreement included a set of 13 steps to end bloodshed, among them a ceasefire, heavy artillery withdrawal from the line of contact and a removal of an economic blockade imposed on Donbas in November 2014.
