WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The comments come amid a debate in the United States over policy brutality, primarily, but not exclusively against African Americans, as well as criminal justice reform.
“Racism is much deeper, it is much more in the fabric of how people think and feel and act,” Clinton was quoted as saying at a campaign event in South Carolina on Thursday.
Clinton argued Americans must not try to gloss over the existence of racism.
“We should not… pretend that it will go away, because we are just going to be nicer to each other, and we are just going to have conversations.”
Clinton was previously criticized for not endorsing the “Black Lives Matter” campaign, but earlier this week she stated during a live Facebook chat she backed the statement that has gained prominence among activists.
