It’s thought the teenager died on the French side but was carried through to the UK. Kent Police were called in the early hours of the morning to a report "that the body of a male had been discovered in the loading bay of a Eurotunnel train at the Channel Tunnel terminal in Folkstone."
Seven migrants have died since the start of June attempting to enter Britain through the Channel Tunnel rail line that links Paris with London. Just five days earlier a migrant drowned as he tried to break through a security fence trying to reach the Eurostar.
Eurotunnel have since asked the British and French governments for $10.5 million (9.7 million euros) to help beef up security measures and prevent migrants bound for the UK from crossing the tunnel on foot.
According to Britain’s Home Secretary Theresa May, officials stopped more than 8,000 attempts by migrants to travel to Britain in three weeks between June 21 and July 11.
But Xavier Bertrand, Republican candidate for Calais and Picardy, has accused the British Prime Minister of "hypocrisy" on the issue of migrants in Calais. Bertrand told France Info.
"Stop the hypocrisy. These migrants are in Calais because they expect to go to England. Why? Because in England you do not need papers. I propose a maritime blockade near the Libyan coast to avoid the drama of illegal immigration and the tragedy of the deaths in the Mediterranean."
Five thousand migrants are now camped around Calais and the situation has been exacerbated by industrial action taken by French ferry workers who have blocked the port in a protest over job cuts. Thousands of migrants have gravitated towards the port in the hope of hiding on trucks to reach Britain.
Hauliers and drivers face a fine of $3,098 for each person discovered hiding on their truck.
The British government has issued a warning to holiday makers set for France.
"There is an ongoing possibility of disruption of cross-Channel services as a result of industrial action and migrant activity in and around Calais."
