The Chinese troops are said to be well-prepared: they trained hard the entire year and even brought their own hardware, CCTV News reported.
The PLA sent over 500 soldiers to compete in all 12 disciplines this year. The disciplines simulate a variety of real life military situations, including driving and shooting a tank ("tank biathlon"), low-altitude piloting and flight navigation for air force units ("aviadarts"), relay race for airborne troops ("airborne platoon"), ship and submarine racing for navy ("Caspian cup"), competition in artillery fire and air defense for ground forces, and even contest for army cooks ("field kitchen") among others.
The Russian Defense Ministry has proposed holding an opening ceremony on August 1 in Alabino, outside Moscow.
Other contests will be held on August 3-13. The closing ceremony will take place August 15 in Alabino. In total, more than 2,000 foreign troops will take part in the games.
