14:54 GMT 24.07.2015 (Updated: 15:11 GMT 24.07.2015) On Friday, the Turkish police detained a suspected leader of the Islamic State in an anti-terror operation in Istanbul, the Anadolu news agency reported.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Halis Bayancuk, also known as ‘Abu Hanzala,’ is suspected of leading an IS-linked cell in the largest city of Turkey.
Overall, more than 100 people were arrested across 26 districts of Istanbul in an operation involving some 5,000 law enforcement officers, the agency said.
