MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The blaze erupted late Saturday at the 14th floor of the 3,000-suite Cosmopolitan Hotel, sending plumes of thick black smoke into the sky, according to local media. It was reportedly put out in less than an hour.

NBC News cited Clark County Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan saying that two people had been treated for smoke inhalation. One of them was taken to a nearby hospital, the outlet added.

According to the fire department, the blaze at the Cosmopolitan's Bamboo Pool at the West End Tower was fuelled by the surrounding cabanas and artificial plants.

Several floors of the hotel were evacuated after the smoke "migrated" into the building, Clark County Fire Department’s Sandra Baker was quoted by ABC News as saying. She reportedly assured the press that all guests would be able to sleep indoors tonight.
The Fire Department said they were investigating the cause of the fire.
