Russia’s Black Sea Fleet was boosted by more than ten boats and support vessels after a forced pause, the Fleet’s Commander Adm. Alexander Vitko said late Saturday ahead of the Navy Day.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Navy Day is celebrated in Russia on the last Sunday of July. This year it falls on July 26.

Speaking ahead of the nationwide festivities, Adm. Vitko said that, "For the first time in quite a long period, more than ten brand-new boats and support vessels have been accepted into service within one calendar year."

He promised that more ships, submarines, warplanes and border patrol vessels will be commissioned to the Fleet in near future.

Russia is currently undergoing a $325-billion rearmament program to modernize 70 percent of its military by 2020.

In August and December 2015, the Black Sea Fleet will receive two advance stealth submarines, according to the Southern Military District press office. A total of six diesel-electric submarines will enter service with the Fleet by the end of 2016.
