MINSK (Sputnik) – On Friday, Moscow and Minsk signed a 10-year deal covering the receipt by Belarus of this Russian credit.
"On July 28, the finance ministry account received the funds of the state finance credit according to the agreement between the governments of Belarus and Russia on providing the Belarusian government with state finance credit, signed on July 24, 2015," the statement read.
Earlier this month, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that Minsk had sought a new loan of $3 billion from Moscow.
In April, Russia issued $110 million to Belarus in order for it be able to repay the interest on a 2010 Russian loan.
According to the Belarusian Finance Ministry, as of January 1, 2015, the country's external debt stood at $12.6 billion.
