Ukrainian parliament member Georgiy Logvinsky wrote on his Facebook that he sent an inquiry to the country's General Prosecutor's office demanding imprisonment and confiscation of cars from French legislators who visited Crimea on July 23-24.
Ukraine has been increasingly hostile to French citizens, with its foreign ministry on Tuesday announcing entry bans to actor Gerard Depardieu and the French legislators who visited Crimea. Logvinsky seeks to also imprison the French legislators for visiting Russia's Crimea, which he considers part of Ukraine.
"First of all, according to article 332-1 of Ukraine's criminal code, these actions are criminally punishable, from five to eight years imprisonment, with the deprivation of the right to take certain office or take part in certain actions for up to three years, and with confiscation of means of transport," Logvinsky wrote.
"As I said, I addressed the law enforcement bodies and will control this so that the reaction is immediate," Logvinsky added.
Logvinsky said that believes that Ukraine has many mechanisms to interrogate the French legislators and find the goal and motivation of their "crime."
