TEL AVIV (Sputnik) — Iran and Hezbollah have created a world-wide "terrorist network" that operates in dozens of countries, including in Europe, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday.
"Iran and Hezbollah have organized a terrorist network that covers over thirty countries on five continents, including Europe, just about every country in Europe," Netanyahu said during a visit to Cyprus.
His remarks coincided with a visit by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini to Teheran.
Netanyahu has vigorously opposed the landmark deal between Iran and a group of international mediators, calling it "a historic mistake." He has claimed that Tehran is intent on using the money it receives from the sanctions relief to back terrorism in the Middle East.
Israel and its Western allies have repeatedly blamed Iran for allegedly supporting militant groups in the region, specifically Lebanon-based Hezbollah and Palestinian Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
