WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Republican Congressman Mark Meadows has filed a motion that would attempt to force House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner from his position, media reported.
According to the action known as a motion to vacate the chair, Boehner has attempted to “consolidate power and centralize decision-making, bypassing the majority of the 435 members of Congress and the people they represent,” Politico reported on Tuesday.
The resolution also asserts that Boehner has used his “legislative calendar to create crises for the American people, in order to compel members to vote for legislation.”
Boehner, who has served as Ohio’s representative for 12 terms, leads the House of Representatives as the Republican Speaker since the party took control in the November 2014 midterm elections.
In 2011, Boehner was originally elected as Speaker of the House and has served in this role since then.
