Over 60 Percent of Ukraine’s Urban Dwellers Want to Move Abroad – Poll

More than 60 percent of Ukrainians living in cities want to move abroad either temporarily or permanently, according to the results of a poll released in Kiev earlier this week.

The survey, done by TSN pollsters, indicates that the number of urban dwellers willing to leave the country had reached 61 percent – a notable jump from February 2015.

The sociologists also registered a decrease in the number of those who do not want to leave Ukraine, from 40 percent to 33 percent.

Moreover, 36 percent of city residents said that they would like to leave but cannot do so, 10 percent would like to leave temporarily and wait out the hard times abroad.

The highest proportion of people wishing to go abroad for good was registered  in the capital Kiev — 20 percent.

Kiev also topped the list of cities from which citizens would like to leave but cannot do so.

Least of all the urban residents wishing to move abroad live in western Ukraine — 35 percent.
