Turkish Stream Pipeline Talks Between Moscow and Ankara Put on Hold - Media
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan may visit Russia by the end of November and discuss the Turkish Stream gas pipeline project with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish Ambassador to Russia Ümit Yardim said.

“Various meetings between the leaders of our countries are held annually for almost five years already. This year a meeting will take place in Kazan, Russia, somewhere around the end of November, but there are no exact dates yet,” Yardim told RIA Novosti in an interview.

The ambassador said that one of the planned subjects up for discussion will be the construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline that is to deliver fuel to southern Europe.

“Naturally, this issue will be among those being discussed,” Yardim said.

The Turkish Stream pipeline is intended to replace the South Stream pipeline, that Moscow cancelled in December 2014, citing the "unconstructive" stance of the European Union. The new pipeline will run from Russia to Turkey across the Black Sea, from where it will extend through Greece to southern Europe.

At a recent mid-June meeting on the sidelines of the first European Games in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, Putin and Erdogan discussed major energy projects, including the Turkish Stream.

After the deadly bombing in Suruc, the two leaders held a phone conversation, exchanging views on countering the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.
