The ATEK company premises are used by members of the notorious voluntary battalion as a training base and for the repair of military equipment, which is then sent to the conflict zone in Donbass.
According to the protest’s organizers, ATEK is deeply in debt and Azov is ready to repay it in order to be able to continue its use of the premises.
The protesters are also against the company being sold to Donetsk, which they claim maintains strong links with Russia.
The Azov volunteer battalion is assigned to the Interior Ministry and is sponsored by billionaire businessman Ihor Kolomoyskiy, an active proponent of Kiev’s so-called “antiterrorist operation” in Donbass.
