Earlier in the day, Turkish Ambassador to Russia Umit Yardim told RIA Novosti that the meeting between the two presidents would take place in Kazan, Russia, “somewhere around the end of November.”
“It is true, the bilateral Higher Council… is expected to convene in fall… this means that Putin and Erdogan will meet,” Peskov said, adding that meeting details are yet to be determined.
The presidential spokesperson confirmed that the two leaders would discuss the Turkish Stream pipeline.
“Undoubtedly, for such projects to be implemented, the process of government formation in Turkey has to be finalized first,” Peskov said.
The Turkish Stream is a proposed pipeline from Russia to Turkey across the Black Sea with an annual capacity of 63 billion cubic meters of gas. The pipeline will run to a hub on the Turkish-Greek border, from where it could be extended through Greece to southern Europe.
Moscow and Ankara are currently discussing the construction of the first leg of the pipeline.
